The cause of diabetes: article
Even small amounts of meat raise risk
A 2020
study showed that eating just 50 g red meat or fish each day can
raise diabetes risk by 11%.
Drugs don't reduce mortality
The following is true of traditional
drugs. As of 2022, there are new drugs which seem to be effective
and have fewer side effects. However, it's possible that the benefit
was all or primarily from the weight loss that the drugs promote, and if
you're already at a healthy weight, the drugs might be ineffective.
As one
study said, "It is uncertain whether our findings are applicable to
individuals with type 2 diabetes who are not overweight or obese."
- Intensive
therapy means you will die sooner with good-looking numbers
- 2013
study: "[I]nsulin therapy was associated with an
increased risk of diabetes-related complications, cancer, and all-cause
mortality."
- 2018
study: Says that certain drugs significantly lower
mortality. But if you read carefully, the different was slight: "SGLT-2
inhibitor drugs were linked to a 1% decrease in absolute risk of death,
while GLP-1 agonist medications were associated with a decrease in
absolute risk of death by 0.6%."
